Gretel is 80 years old and lives alone. She lost her husband a few years ago. When her best friend Sophie, whom Gretel visited regularly, dies, she fears loneliness. At Sophie's funeral, Gretel strikes up a conversation with a young boy. This gives her an idea: she calls the boy's family, whom she saw for the first time at the funeral, and pretends to be a distant aunt. She skilfully insinuates herself into the family and takes part in their lives. This is not only good for her, but also for the family.
